Please refer to Design Notes for size of design and stitch count and order
of color changes. Conversions available: .dst,.exp, .hus, .jef, .pes,
.sew,.vip, .vp3 and .xxx
My embroidery machine is a Melco EP-1 therefore my format is .exp ... I
noticed when I converted the designs a very slight difference in stitch
count which I am sure is due to using a different format. My digitizing
program does offer many formats ... if yours is not one of the nine ... email
me to see if I do have yours ... I will gladly convert for your machine if
you can't
Since I can only work in the .exp format when designing, the hoop size I
program the design is always the same size, which is the one I use over
and over which is 5.5" x 9.4" ... so before you order a design make sure
that the size of the design will work in your hoop ... especially .pes
Several of my designs have tiny dots that have jump stitches between
them ... I checked to see how much time it took to trim these and not one
of them took over 5 mins.
Personally, I prefer to trim during the sewing process ... I will put my
machine on pause and trim ...it doesn't work for all of them ... but I feel
you get a cleaner cut if you catch the trims in the underlay process.
The color choices I made were part of the digitizing program and not the
actual colors I used. My personal collection of threads is a little bit of
everything.
I strongly encourage anyone to experiment with color and threads because
you never know until you try one vs. another.
When I first started ... I purchased stock designs and the first time I sewed
out the design I faithfully stuck to their color choices and more often then
not was very disappointed ... so I began to play with the colors and it is
amazing what you can end up with.
One time I decided to take a whole different outlook on color and I
thought if this were jewelry what colors would a jeweler choose ... the end
result was wonderful and they did have a jeweled affect ... in that case I
mixed in metallic as well
Speaking of metallics ... which has a unique way of driving everyone mad
... the only time I came near success with metallic was when I turned my
machine's speed down to its slowest speed ... fed the thread only through
the front guides (did not feed thru any of the tension guides) ... held the
spool in my hands and slowly fed the thread thru ... yes I still have breaks
but no where near what I had if I had completely fed it thru the machine.
I found metallics are extremely delicate and do not like tension ... so in
this case less is more
My design style is very simple ... I do not use a lot of different fills ... I
love the basic satin stitch ... all of my designs are manually digitized
I think my designs look best on apparel, home decor, pillows,
contemporary comforters, bags.
Once I finish setting up this website I will be starting my own projects
which I will be selling online and you will be able to see how I use my
designs
I am sorry that the designs are graphically presented ... I went out and
bought (not cheap either) a digital camera to photograph actual work and
was very unhappy with the results ... so this little camera is going to end
up on ebay and I am going to get the camera I should have purchased in
the first place
I think this is an amazing hobby ... there are so many things we can do
with this ... it's endless ... it never gets boring ...
